🏋🏼♀️ We continue to strengthen the institution of whistleblowers in Ukraine.
The right to free secondary legal assistance in case of violation of the whistleblower's rights or persecution is an integral part of the implementation of whistleblower protection guarantees.
It is important that lawyers know how to find the right approach and provide quality legal services to whistleblowers.
🗓️ On March 14-15, in Lviv, experts of the Foundation for Institutional Development conducted a training on providing legal aid to whistleblowers for lawyers of the free legal aid system of the Western region of Ukraine.
During two days, Oksana Bronevytska and Olena Karpova together with the participants:
▪️discussed the role of whistleblowers in preventing corruption, the rights and guarantees of protection of whistleblowers;
▪️we analyzed the legislation, judicial practice, international standards, decisions of the ECHR regarding the protection of the rights of whistleblowers;
▪️ established the peculiarities of consideration of court cases with the participation of whistleblowers (civil, criminal, administrative process, cases of administrative violations).
📑 Separate training blocks related to the implementation of the Directive (EU) 2019/1937 on the protection of whistleblowers who report violations of EU legislation and whistleblower status in civil, administrative and criminal proceedings.
The event was held by the Coordinating Center for the Provision of Legal Aid with the assistance from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine in the framework of «EU4Recovery — Empowering Communities in Ukraine» (EU4Recovery) project, with financial support from the European Union.
