How is the role of compliance specialists changing in the context of European integration? What competencies are needed today and where to obtain them?

These questions became part of the expert discussion “PRO Compliance: a Formula for European Integration for State-Owned Enterprises”, which the COMPLIANCE HUB community held in partnership with the NACP, the Vadym Hetman Kyiv National University of Economics and Business, and the FID.

The event was opened by Serhii Hupiak, Deputy Head of the NACP. In his speech, he outlined key changes in the field of compliance and the role of anti-corruption commissioners in the process of Ukraine’s European integration.

One of the key topics of the meeting was professional education in the field of compliance. European integration is changing approaches to the management of state-owned enterprises, and with them the requirements for professionals responsible for integrity and risk management.

Today, the role of anti-corruption officers, compliance officers and compliance officers is much broader than monitoring compliance with the law. They work with risks, help form a culture of integrity and integrate compliance into daily management processes.

Therefore, professional development should combine practical experience with high-quality specialized education.

During the event, Denys Lifintsev, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor of the Department of Management of the Vadym Hetman Kyiv National University of Economics, presented the Master's Program "Compliance Management".

The expert discussion was also joined by Oleg Novikov, Head of the Department of Policy Formation in the Field of Work of Authorized Persons of the NACP; Anna Fedorenko, Head of the Office of the Commissioner for Anti-Corruption of JSC "Sense Bank", an expert in compliance and integrity, co-founder of the Ukrainian Center for Professional Certification; Hanna Horbenko, Head of the Ukrainian Compliance Association NGO; Yulia Azarina, Head of Compliance and Corruption Prevention Department of NEC Ukrenergo, Head of the Compliance Committee of the UBA.

The event was moderated by Kateryna Datsko, Executive Director of the FID.

The experts also discussed the changes that European integration brings to state-owned enterprises, the practice of compliance departments, and new approaches to risk management.
